If only I had a crystal ball… They say hindsight is a wonderful thing and it certainly has its benefits, but for me there is a lot to be said for going with your gut and taking a risk or two.
Not in my wildest dreams back in the Autumn of 2019 when I was contemplating leaving a secure job to start up on my own did I think we were on the verge of a worldwide pandemic and global recession! And alas no sooner had I set up than both were quickly becoming a reality.
Reflecting back on those early days in February and March this year I am not afraid to admit that there were many sleepless nights and the occasional ‘what have I done’ moment. My intention to get out and meet people to drum up new business had been well and truly scuppered by lockdown. A ban on leaving your home coupled with headline after headline predicting doom and gloom for business and especially the construction sector meant things were not off to a great start!
I am however really pleased to say that the pain was short lived and thanks to the great efforts of the entire country and in particular our fabulous key workers life has started to return to something near normal.
The support I have received from clients old and new has been fantastic and something I will never forget. I am really pleased to be working on some fantastic schemes with some fantastic clients and fellow consultants. The order book is now really starting to fill up and new enquiries are thankfully growing by the day. The future is bright and I am confident that having ridden the Covid wave this far we have solid foundations for the future.
In this instance I am glad that I don’t have a crystal ball as if I did Neo Projects in all likelihood would have remained a dream and not the exciting reality that it now is.
For anyone else with similar ambitions I would strongly say life is too short to not make your dreams a reality so seize the day, give it your all and you will never look back.
