Great Places Housing Association, (The Employer) requires the demolition and clearance of the existing chimney remains from the former Maple Mill at Dowry Street in Oldham and the design and construction of 98 new affordable homes for rent and affordable home ownership. There is a mix of 1 and 2 bed 3 storey apartments and 2 storey cottage flats as well as 2, 3 and 4 bed family houses.
Neo Projects are undertaking the role of Employer’s Agent on behalf of Great Places for this development under a JCT Design and Build 2016 form of contract with standard Amendments.
The scheme is to be 100% affordable housing with a mix of affordable rent and affordable home ownership. The scheme was brought to Great Places as part of a land and build package deal by MCI Developments Limited and Neo have been heavily involved in agreeing and negotiating final specifications and contract particulars.
Partners on the project include RJD Associates acting as Principal Designer.
The scheme achieved a unanimous planning approval decision in June 2021 and will bring employment and supply chain opportunities to the local area. The scheme starts on site in August 2021.
